Graves County Schools' celebrate KCCT success

Graves County Schools' celebrate KCCT success

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County Schools’ central office administrators hosted school principals in a meal and celebration recently for the district’s and individual schools’ success on last spring’s Kentucky Core Content Test, after results were announced this fall.

The district has ranked in the top 7.5 percent of Kentucky’s 174 school districts since 2004.

For the second straight year, the district has ranked among the top 5 percent statewide and No. 9 in Kentucky academics.

Board member Donnie Reed said that while the scores are very worthy of celebration, their real meaning is in the high levels of teaching and learning that are taking place in the Graves County Schools.

"I want to thank you for educating my children and giving them an advantage in college, work and adult life," said Reed.

He said he was speaking not as a board member, but as a parent when he told the gathering of educators.

KSP: One sent to hospital after van overturns several times

KSP: One sent to hospital after van overturns several times

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky State Police reports Wednesday that a Hickory woman was sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries on Sunday.

KSP says Anna Pritchett, 47, was driving her 1998 Mercury van southbound on KY 1241 when she dropped off the west side of the highway. They say she over corrected and crossed both lanes of KY 1241, left the east side of the road and traveled about 500 feet before overturning multiple times and coming to a final rest on the east side of the road.

According to KSP, Pritchett was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected during the rollover. Police say she was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and later air lifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

The Graves County Sheriff Office helped at the scene and police say the investigation is ongoing.
