Single car crash sends Mo. girl to hospital

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - According to Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, a single car crash on Monday sent a Missouri girl to the hospital.

The sheriff says at about 10 a.m. Mallory Fritz, 19, of Kennett, Mo. was driving her 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on KY 94 East between the intersections of KY 303 and High Road. He says Fritz was driving from Kennett to Murray State University and apparently fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the right side of the road.

According to Redmon, the car hit a mailbox, jumped a creek and then hit a tree and earthen embankment. He says the car caught fire after hitting the tree and embankment.

The sheriff says Fritz was helped out of the car by local resident Terry McDermitt.

The Cuba and Sedalia Volunteer Fire Departments were both called to extinguish the fire.

KSP offers trick-or-treating safety tips

(KFVS) - The Kentucky State Police are offering some Halloween safety tips for trick-or-treaters.

“Halloween is traditionally a time for children to have fun, but most often it is the children who can be injured by situations that are avoidable,” said Lt. David Jude, spokesperson for KSP. “Be sure your child’s costume does not obstruct their vision and is not so cumbersome that they can trip over it.”

Jude says on Halloween evening we're placing our children in probably some of the most dangerous traffic situations you could imagine.

WK&T gives Christmas gifts in memory of Ean Wooley

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - West Kentucky & Tennessee Telecommunications Inc. made a donation to the Graves County Truck Pullers Association’s annual truck and tractor pull this past August.

When totals of cash raised were announced in October, Larry and Denise Wooley, who are among the event’s organizers, revealed that the WK&T donation was made in memory of their grandson, Ean Wooley, who died as the result of an ATV accident.

The Wooleys were asked to buy gifts with the money that their grandson would have enjoyed and would have thought other children would enjoy.

The items pictured here filled that request and will be given to children through the Christmas assistance program of the Mayfield and Graves County school districts.
