She will be honored at the association’s annual conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington Friday, Nov. 4. As an honoree, Dowdy will receive a complimentary KSTA Conference registration, a plaque, and a one year membership in KSTA.

“Wow, that’s all I can say about Keri Dowdy’s teaching,” said Sedalia principal Robert Braden. “As for her receiving this award, I’d add that it’s well-deserved. Look at all the other accolades she’s received. In every way, it’s clear she’s a great teacher. Probably the best evidence is her students’ love for science and success in learning it.

Graves High claims record number of AP students

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County High School students during the 2010-11 school year scored Advanced Placement achievements at record levels, including the first time 12 students earned the designation of AP Scholar.

Sean Hackel, valedictorian in the Class of 2011, earned the rare level of National AP Scholar. He is believed to be the first GCHS student to earn that accolade. National AP official recently calculated and released the information.

Advanced Placement courses are academically rigorous and can result in the student’s earning college credit by scoring 3 or higher on a 5-point scale end-of-course assessment. Graves County High School students are enrolled in the high school courses that can result in dual credit for more than 15 subjects, filling well over 400 classroom seats, all tolled.
