KY 339/Old Clinton Road to close for drain replacement

MCCRACKEN-GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close KY 339/Old Clinton Road on Monday, July 18.

The road will be closed at mile point 1.8, located between KY 786/Mayfield-Metropolis Road and KY 1820/County Line Road less than two miles north of the McCracken-Graves County line, while crews work to replace a cross drain.

Crews will be working starting at 8 a.m. and is expected to reopen at 3:30 p.m.

KYTC says drivers should use alternate travel plans because no marked detour will be provided.

Overturned semi on KY 94, road now open

LYNVILLE, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the road is now open after an semi overturned on KY 94 near Lynville on Wednesday.

KYTC says the semi was near 332 SR 94 East and both lanes were blocked at the time.

The cabinet says the truck was leaking fuel and they assembled crews to help police with traffic control and establish a detour.

Mayfield Summer Music Fest

MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) - The Mayfield Summer Music Fest will continue until the end of July.

The music fest includes a different band every Saturday night at Harmon Park, located at Eighth and James Streets. The music will start at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

The city recommends to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets and concessions will be provided.

A list of upcoming performances include:

  • July 23 - Emily Duff
  • July 30 - Common Ground

Family movie night in Mayfield

MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) - The next Family Movie Night will be Friday, July 15 and "Hairspray" will be featured.

Every Friday night in June and July the city of Mayfield and NewWave Communications will present a free outdoor movie night for the whole family.

The movies will play in Harmon Park at the corner of North 8th and James Streets at 8 p.m.

The city recommends you bring lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions will be provided and restrooms will be available.

Two-year-old ejected in crash, helicopter breaks down when responding

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A two-year-old boy has severe injuries after he was ejected from a van in a crash Thursday evening in Graves County.

It happened on the Purchase Parkway at the 14 mile marker about 5 p.m.

Kentucky State Police say as a van approached the exit 14 merge ramp, a vehicle was traveling that was traveling off the exit ramp merged into the van's path onto the southbound lane.  The driver of the van, Chonte Cross of Union City, tried to maneuver around the vehicle, but the van overturned in the median.

All seven people in the van had injuries and were taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield. 

The two-year-old boy was ejected and has severe inuries.  He was air-lifted to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

A preliminary investigation showed the boy may not have been properly secured in a child safety seat.

The K-9 offensive skills basketball camp will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Weatherization assistance available for some households

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - West Kentucky Allied Services, Inc is currently providing Weatherization Assistance to eligible homes in the Purchase area.

This assistance will make energy more affordable for low-income families through energy-saving advanced technologies. The hope is that this will save lives and keep families safer by identifying carbon monoxide hazards, poor indoor air quality, molds and other health threats.

Eligible households will receive a free dwelling needs evaluation which may result in work being done to provide energy-saving and safety measures.

The application process can be completed at each local WKAS office.
