"Spirit of Service" week in Mayfield

MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) - The city of Mayfield will hold "Spirit of Service Week" Jan. 16-22.

Residents can use the week to do something good and service-oriented for someone or some group and the report that activity to the Mayor's office.

The city says do-gooders will then receive special recognition in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Graves High Dance Team entertains at Four Rivers Christmas party

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County High School Dance Team members volunteered at the annual Christmas party given for clients of Four Rivers Behavioral Health.

The volunteers included:

  • Lakyn Elliott
  • Kanza Brooks
  • Christina Harned

Four Rivers is a private, not-for-profit agency whose mission is to provide comprehensive, integrated mental health, substance abuse, and mental retardation-developmental disability services that promote the health and quality of life of community members. Clients enjoyed watching and dancing with the team and team members enjoyed visiting with friends they had made just a few weeks earlier when they also volunteered at the Easter Seals party before the WPSD/Local 6 Lions Clubs Telethon of Stars in Paducah.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Four Graves County High School students earned All-State Orchestra honors, according to their director, Cody Hein.

They include:

  • Shelly Burgess - cellist
  • Clifton Hendley - bassist
  • Katie Armstrong - violinist

Former Wildcat McCarty’s music featured at Graves Schools’ PAC

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Former Kentucky Wildcat and Boston Celtic Walter McCarty has transitioned into a career as an R&B vocalist.

The Graves County Eagle Foundation will feature him in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the Graves County Schools’ Performing Arts Center, located adjacent to the high school.

McCarty’s current album, "Emotionally," features mostly slow-jam songs that reflect his musical influences as a fan of Michael Jackson, Brian McKnight and Boyz II Men. He also will perform some Christmas songs.

Tickets are $35. A limited number of Magic Passes also are available at $15 each. The Magic Pass offers entry two hours before the concert to meet and greet him and to receive a poster. Magic Passes are available only to those who purchase a ticket for the concert. Concessions will be available during the Magic Pass session.

Former Wildcat's Dec. 16 concert at Graves Schools PAC postponed

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A concert featuring former Kentucky Wildcat and Boston Celtic Walter McCarty has been postponed

McCarty was scheduled to perform his R&B and Christmas music at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Graves County Schools’ Performing Arts Center.

Graves County High School athletic director Doug Gloyd said, “Due to some scheduling conflicts, the Walter McCarty event ...has been postponed to another date that has yet to be determined…”

Taco's lap might be too small, but we want to see pictures of your kids or pets sitting on Santa's lap. The pictures will be featured online and maybe on-air.
