Fifth graders visits Frankfort, tours the capital

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Lowes Elementary School fifth graders visited the Commonwealth’s capital, Frankfort, earlier this fall.

Here, state Rep. Fred Nesler (D-Mayfield) hosts them at the Capitol Building. They talked about operating procedures of Kentucky government and enjoyed lunch together. The students then toured the Old Capitol, where their guide directed them through a mock legislative debate.

The students also visited the Kentucky Vietnam War Memorial, the gravesite of Daniel and Rebecca Boone, Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace and a historical tour through Mammoth Cave, which emphasized how the military used the cave during the War of 1812.
