This year, to celebrate the 5th year, we're adding a 12K!

Free summer communication classes available to Graves Co. faculty, staff, friends of district

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County Schools’ administrators, faculty and staff, as well as friends of the district may earn Effective Instructional Leadership Act credit or simply come to learn, all free-of-charge, for any or all of four communication topics this summer. Each class offers three hours EILA credit.

Community Relations Director Paul Schaumburg, an adjunct college communication instructor, will lead the classes. He earned master’s degrees in both Organizational Communication and Mass Communication and bachelor’s degrees in both Speech Communication and Mass Communication. He is a veteran of more than 15 years as a radio broadcaster, more than 15 years as an adjunct professor at two universities and two community colleges, six years as a newspaper reporter, and 12 years as a public relations director for educational institutions.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Two new board members were sworn in at the Kentucky Board of Education meeting on April 10.

Franklin District Court Judge Phillip Shepherd administered the oath of office to Trevor R. Bonnstetter from Mayfield, and Grayson R. Boyd from Williamsport who were recently appointed to the board by Governor Steve Beshear.

Golf scramble April 19 offers top 3 teams Peyton Manning tickets

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A four-person golf scramble provides participants a day of fun, lunch, and more, all to benefit Graves County Schools’ athletics.

The top three teams win prizes, including $400 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third. All members of the top three teams also receive free tickets to the Graves County Eagle Foundation’s Second Annual Night with a Champion, this year featuring Peyton Manning in the Graves County High School Eagles’ Nest Gymnasium at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20.

The scramble also features 18 hole prizes, door prizes, shirts, Mulligans, and competitions for longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt.

Additionally, Jackie Sholar will provide a long drive exhibition. Last fall, he placed third in the world in the senior division at the Re-max Long Drive Competition in Las Vegas, Nev.
