GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Graves County Truck Pullers’ Association will present a check from its 5th Annual Truck and Tractor Pull to the Graves County Board of Education and its family resource and youth services centers.
The check presentation will take place at a special, called meeting of the Graves County Board of Education. It will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the district’s central office, 2290 State Route 121 North in Mayfield.
Admission proceeds from the organization’s annual August event will benefit the Christmas assistance programs for underprivileged children of the Mayfield and Graves County public schools. Concession stand proceeds this year will support projects of the family resource and youth services centers as well as Cuba and Wingo elementary schools. In its first four years, including concessions, the annual truck and tractor pull has raised more than $88,500 for school children. The truck pull regularly attracts more than 3,000 fans each year.
The school board meeting then will take a break for board members and others interested to travel to Symsonia Elementary School for the remainder of the meeting. The school is located at 11730 State Route 131, Symsonia. The meeting will reconvene at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The rest of the agenda includes a submission for approval for the board to commit to participate in the Race to the Top Grant; planning of the agenda for the board’s regular monthly meeting scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 16; and a work session.
