HICKORY,  KY (KFVS)  –  The Kentucky State Police Post 1 is asking you to help feed needy families for the Christmas Holiday.

The 4th annual “Cram the Cruiser” food drive has begun.

A Kentucky State Police cruiser is parked at the entrance of KSP Post 1 on Highway 45 in Graves County.

Anyone who wishes can drop off non perishable food items in the State Police cruiser between now and December 15.

On December 15, Kentucky State Police will take the items to a local food pantry for distribution to needy  families in the area.

Suggested donations include:

  • Canned fruit and vegetables
  • Canned meat
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce
  • Brownie and cake mixes
  • Coffee
  • Water
  • Powdered milk
  • Juices

During non business hours, items can be dropped off in the lobby of Kentucky State Police, Post 1, which is located at 8366 State Route 45 North in Hickory. For other KSP post locations, you can visit www.kentuckystatepolice.org.

KSP has partnered with the Papa John’s stores in Lone Oak and Paducah for the “Cram the Cruiser” campaign. In addition to items being collected at the KSP Post, items can also be dropped off at the Papa John’s stores in Lone Oak or the Clark’s River Road location. Papa John’s delivery drivers will accept non-perishable food items as well, during their deliveries.

Last year, KSP says they collected 50,931 pounds of food.
