Foundation accepting applications from nonprofits or $1,000 grant

(KFVS) - The Community Foundation of West Kentucky is accepting applications for a $1,000 grant to be awarded from their Community Fund.

The fund began in 2011 to provide grants to area nonprofit organizations that are providing broad support for the community's well-being. The grant will be awarded during a Community Foundation event on Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Market House Theatre.

Eligible applicants must be a 501(c)(3) public charity as classified by the Internal Revenue Service. Granst must serve residents of the West Kentucky region. The Community Fund does not provide grants for general operating support, endowment funds, operational deficits, individuals or political purposes.

Graves High to feature alumni show “All Hearts Come Home”

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County High School will feature a number of its graduates as performers in “All Hearts Come Home.”

The alumni show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, rescheduled from a previous date. The show is part of the season series for those who hold season tickets. If you're not a season ticket holder, tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

Seniors producing the show said they’re learning about all the hard work and details that go into organizing such an event. They also said the upcoming show is a way to pay tribute to fine arts students who paved the way for the district’s Performing Arts Center, located adjacent to the high school.

Sedalia Elementary to host scrapbook event to benefit Relay for Life

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Sedalia Elementary School will host a scrapbook crop to benefit Relay for Life.

The event is called “Girls Just Wanna Crop: The Glue that Holds Us Together.” Participants will enjoy a large, comfortable area for cropping, fun, and friends. A scrapbook yard sale will feature new and used cropping items.

Beverages and snacks will be available throughout the day, along with a soup and sandwich lunch. A variety of items will be given away throughout the day ranging from scrapbooking tools and cash to gift cards to Hobby Lobby and Michael’s.

The cost is $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door. The scrapbook crop will take place at Sedalia Elementary School Saturday, Jan. 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can make checks payable to the school.

Symphony to host "Made in America" concert

Symphony to host "Made in America" concert

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Symphony will host its second annual "Made in America" concert on Saturday, January 28th.

The concert starts at 4:00 p.m. At Harrison Street Baptist Church. The church is located at 1126 Harrison St. in Paducah.

The concert will feature African American Spirituals, art music, and hymns. The symphony will play several selections including "Steal Away" and "Ezekiel Saw the Wheel."

The Paducah Symphony Adult, Youth, and Children's Choruses will be featured along with the Murray State Concert Choir.

Admission to the concert is $10 for adults and free for students. A nursery will be provided by Harrison Street Baptist.

You can nominate someone in your life for Heartland Heroes

(KFVS) - Right here in the Heartland there are many individuals that go "above and beyond" and give so much of themselves.

There are people who you never forget, they touched your life in some way by giving of themselves, they are HEROES…

Because of the positive footprints they leave behind, KFVS wants to present their stories through feature segments which honor those who stand out as our "Heartland  Heroes."

Help us by telling us their stories. We'll select four stories to feature in February.
