Mayfield couple charged with stealing 107 gallons of gasoline | Crime
GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Mayfield couple was arrested in Sedalia, accused of stealing 107 gallons of gasoline.
Dusty Baker, 33, and his wife, Brittany Baker, 27, were charged with receiving stolen property under $500 and taken to the Graves County Jail.
According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, around 2:30 a.m. on Monday a deputy was dispatched to a call of a suspicious vehicle at Bob and Ann's Grocery on Ky 97 in the Sedalia community. They say the person that called reported they had saw a black pick-up truck in the lot of the grocery with two people around it that appeared to be stealing fuel.
The caller said there were two 55 gallon barrels in the bed of the truck.
While a deputy was on the way, the sheriff's office says he met the truck traveling north on KY 97 in the area of East Slaughter Road. The deputy stopped the truck on KY 97.
During an investigation, it was determined that 107 gallons of gasoline had been stolen from the grocery store and both 55 gallon barrels were full of gasoline. Officers say they also found an electric pump with a hose attached to it in the bed of truck.
According to the sheriff's office, the truck they were driving, the barrels of gasoline, the hose and the electric pump were all seized as evidence.
The sheriff's office says the deputy was assisted with the stop and the arrest by the Mayfield Police Department. They say they would like to thank the caller who reported this suspicious activity which resulted in this arrest.
