GCHS Spring Band Concert set for May 6

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Graves County High School Spring Band Concert is scheduled for the district’s Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m. Monday, May 6.

The concert will feature the high school Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Band. The show also will feature senior Todd Shiflett's new piece "Blackout," which was very popular at the recent "Curtain Call."

Admission is free-of-charge.

The PAC is located adjacent to GCHS, nearest the entrance from Ky. Highway 121.

Graves High musical-theater students take on Roaring ’20s

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County High School musical-theater students will present their spring musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10, at the district’s Performing Arts Center, located adjacent to GCHS.

The stage play is based on a 1967 film starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore. It tells the story of a young woman, Millie Dillmount, who becomes a flapper in the Roaring ‘20s of New York, when she plans to marry… for money, rather than love.

Thursday's performance offers first come, first served, general admission seating for $5. Friday's performance includes assigned ticket seating.

Graves High to host 8th Annual Eagle Gridiron Golf Tourney

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Graves County High School football staff and players invite supporters, golfers, and anyone else interested to join them for a great day of golf and fellowship.

The Eighth Annual Eagle Gridiron Golf Tournament involves teams of four members each at a total cost of $150. It’s set for the Mayfield-Graves County Golf and Country Club with a 3 p.m. shotgun start Friday, May 31. Food and soft drinks will be provided to all players and significant prizes will be awarded.

Graves High prom, 'Under the Sea,' scheduled for May 4

Graves High prom, 'Under the Sea,' scheduled for May 4

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County High School’s prom, Under the Sea, will be held Saturday, May 4, in the Eagles’ Nest Gymnasium.

It features a beach and underwater theme this year.

Prom permission forms must be submitted to teacher Jennifer Hunter in Room B05 in order to purchase prom tickets. If a form is not submitted, a ticket cannot be purchased.  

Tickets will be sold through Friday, May 3. Prices are $25 for a single ticket or $30 for a couple.

The Grand March will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Prom will end at 11:30 p.m.  

Jones Photography will take pictures at prom and packages will be sold. Orders can be made at prom and payment is expected at the time of order.

Events include:

  • May 3-4, GCHS, JV Baseball Team visits Ballard to go against Heath in the JV Regional, time TBA
  • GCHS, Track Team visits Paducah Tilghman for the Area 1 Championships, time TBA
  • Sedalia, Sedalia Day and 5-K Run 8 a.m.
