Lowes Elementary 6th graders DARE to complete program | News
GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.
It’s designed for a law enforcement officer to teach students about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. It also equips those students with the knowledge and skills to resist peer pressure and other temptations to use dangerous substances.
Graves County Schools Resource Officer John Cavin taught sixth graders the program in recent weeks at Lowes Elementary School. Here, he poses with them at their graduation ceremony.
“I’ve gotten to know these students over the past ten weeks,” Cavin said, “and that adds to my personal involvement in DARE. I know it’s a worthwhile program and I know these are good kids. I definitely hope they’ll remember what we learned together and will remain the happy, healthy people with whom I’ve enjoyed sharing this class.”
