Graves Sheriff's Dept. reports 2 separate crashes | News
GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reports two separate crashes on Tuesday, August 28.
The first was a non-injury crash on State Route 80 East, about 6 miles east of Mayfield. Remond said this crash happened around 2:15 p.m. when a Jeep driven by James Jones, 18, of Murray, was going east on St. Rt. 80.
Redmon said Jones tried to pass a vehicle on the right-side and overcorrected, causing the Jeep to leave the road in the median. He said the Jeep then hit two road signs, shearing the posts off.
The second crash did have injuries and happened around 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 121 bypass and State Route 80 East.
According to Redmon, a Chevy SUV driven by Melody Kendall, 54, of Farmington, entered the intersection despite a red stop light and hit a Kia SUV driven by Michael Riehl, 52, of Sedalia. Redmon said Riehl's SUV then continued until it hit a light pole.
Riehl was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries to his leg and chest area. Redmon said Kendall complained of pain to her leg, but did not seek treatment.
