GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Lowes man was sent to the hospital with multiple injuries after a single vehicle crash on KY 849 around 11:02 a.m. Monday.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said deputies responded to the area of 705 SR 849 West for a single vehicle crash. He said the investigation revealed that 31-year-old Mitchell Meyer was driving westbound on KY 849 West when the vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the road and hit some mailboxes.

Deputies say Meyer then over-corrected, crossed both lanes of KY 849 West and ran off of the south shoulder of the road. After his vehicle left the road, they say it rolled over four to five times before coming to rest on the right side in a field.

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County High School junior Buddy Jackson has been selected for Tom Leach's 2013 All-Resilient Team.

He is pictured here with GCHS athletic director Doug Gloyd. Jackson has been dealing with diabetes since age 8. Despite wearing an insulin pump, he is very involved as a swimmer, wrestler, soccer manager, as GCHS Eagle mascot "Beaker," and in numerous choir and drama activities.

He recently was recognized in Louisville at the Kentucky High School Athletic Directors’ conference. The All-Resilient Team’s mission speaks to the concept. "‘Resiliency’ is one of the foundational concepts of athletic competition at any level. Symsonia SBDM Council selects Alison Gregory as new elementary school principal

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Symsonia Elementary School’s site-based decision-making council selected Alison Gregory as its new principal Friday afternoon, April 12.

She will begin her new duties with the 2013-14 school year, replacing Lisa Gamble, who will retire this summer.

“We chose Alison because we think she is going to be a huge asset to Symsonia Elementary School,” said teacher Julie Robertson, who serves as vice-chair of the SBDM Council. “Her love is curriculum and instruction and we know that is a love of ours, too. We also think she is going to support us and take us to even higher levels of achievement. She has taught, been an assistant middle school principal, and LEAD Academy principal, so she brings a lot to the table for us.”
