1 killed, 5 injured in Graves County crash | People
GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - One person died and five are injured after a crash Sunday night in Graves County.
Graves County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on SR 97 at Haymarket Corner around 9:32 p.m. Sunday.
Debbie Teems of Mayfield was driving an SUV north on SR 97 when the SUV crossed the southbound lane and went off the left side of the road, hit an embankment, and sideswiped a tree.
Teems was taken to Lourdes ER in critical condition.
Notie Washburn, 66, of Mayfield was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical ER and later to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Washburn died from her injuries.
Kelly Dunn of Mayfield was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical ER in critical but stable condition.
James Dunn of Mayfield was transported to Western Baptist ER in stable condition.
Robert Hebert of Mayfield was taken to Western Baptist in stable condition.
A juvenile in the vehicle was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical ER with minor injuries. The juvenile in the vehicle is the only known passenger to have been wearing a seat belt, according to the Graves County Sheriff's Office.
Crews had to use the "Jaws of Life" by the Mayfield Fire Department.
The Kentucky State Police and the Sedalia Fire Department assisted at the scene.
A preliminary investigation determined speed to be the primary factor of the crash.
