Graves Co. softball team competes in national tournament

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Graves County girls' softball coach Selise Ridolfi says several Graves County girls are competing this week on the Dream Team 97 in the 14U "A" ASA/USA National Fastpitch Softball tournament at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls, SD.

Ridolfi says this is the most prestigious softball tournament in the country; there are 114 teams competing from across the United States for the National Championship title. The Dream Team is the only team representing the state of Kentucky at this National tournament.

The ladies had a couple of practice games on Sunday and defeated the San Diego Renegades 97 from California and tied with the Gainesville Gold from Florida. In pool play the Dream Team defeated the Minnesota Magic 8-1 on Monday and Tuesday lost 0-4 to Team Power 97 out of Missouri. The Dream Team opens up with their first bracket game today at 4:00pm as a #2 seed against Newton Rock 14U Elite from Pennsylvania.
