GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Graves County High School Bowling Team competed in the 2013 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Region 1 Bowling Tournament the last Saturday of January at Cardinal Strike and Spare in Paducah.
The teams were seeded based on a one-game roll-off with eight bowlers from each school divided into two teams. The Graves County girls’ team was seeded No. 1 and the boys’ team was seeded No. 2. The teams then bowled baker games with the winning team in each round winning the best of five games. Baker games consist of five bowlers bowling a game with bowler No. 1 bowling the first and sixth frames, bowler No. 2 bowling the second and seventh frames, bowler No. 3 bowling the third and eighth frames, bowler No. 4 bowling the fourth and ninth frames, bowler No. 5 bowling the fifth and tenth frames.
The Graves County boys’ team also had a bye in the first round, then rolled over Bowling Green in the second round with a 3-1 win. The Graves County boys scored another 3-1 win over Barren County in the third round and were edged out by South Warren 3-2 to take the runners-up trophy. With the top two teams from each region competing, both the Graves County girls’ and boys’ teams will compete in the KHSAA State Team Bowling Tournament in Louisville Feb. 8.
