Graves High bowling team sends 4 to KHSAA State Tournament | Schools

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The 2013 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Region 1 Bowling Tournament featured all 36 boys and 36 girls present competing bowling three games for seeding.
The top eight boys and top eight girls bowled two more games with the top four cumulative scores advancing to a stepladder roll-off to determine the regional champions. The boys No. 3 seed Austin Dunn of Graves County rolled over fourth seed Zack Borden of Bowling Green 168-131 in the first match to advance to meet No. 2 seed Zach Long of Warren East, where he was barely edged out 186-184. Long was out-rolled by No. 1 seed Kaleb Miller of South Warren 233-192 with Miller winning the boys region.
The girls featured No. 3 seed Katie Cathey of Graves County playing No. 4 seed Kortney Beck of Paducah Tilghman in the first match with Beck advancing 147-122 to play No. 2 seed Kelsey Latta of Graves County. Latta won the second match 195-167 to advance to the final game against No. 1 seed Sarah Watts of Graves County. Latta edged out Watts 208-172 to become the girls region champion for the second year. With the top four region girls and top four region boys advancing to state, Graves County will send (pictured here, from left) Austin Dunn, Kelsey Latta, Sarah Watts, and Katie Cathey to compete in the KHSAA State Singles Bowling Tournament in Louisville Feb. 7.
